Porsche 911 - Design & Mechanical Legend

Porsche 911 (2.0) was first produced by Porsche AG of Stuttgart, Germany in 1963 and is a two-door rear-engine classic, which became a legend from day one. While it may look like similar, it has actually come a long way.

The original Porsche 911 was actually called 901 in its early days and was based of its predecessor the 356.

Porsche 911 however were designed to be more luxurious then the 356. It got some of the 356's styling features, but it also had a more modern look, a roomier interior and a six-cylinder engine with more power.  

Through time Porsche 911 have evolved many times but have kept its iconic design with minor changes to its design. After Porsche 2.0, the 2.2 were introduced in 1970, which could be recognised by the 2.2 emblem, on the rear window, in the shape of a boxer engine iconic for Porsche 911. However, this emblem did not stay for long since Porsche yet again upgraded the engine to a 2,4 (2341 cc engine). Over the decades Porsche has evolved to different variations such as:

 

2.0 / 2,2 / 2,4 / 2,7 / SC / 3,2 / 964 / 993 / Turbo  

 

Nowadays Porsche 911’s are a very sought after collectable, the timeless aesthetic design and smooth boxer engine – especially the 2,4 is considered the greatest classical 911. Prices are rising higher and higher, get yours while you can! Which is your favourite?
