For Arne Jacobsen relaxation did not mean, stop, but instead the continuation of the ever-changing inspiration and will to create marvellous conceptions. Always working on a new project and with an eye for details. Every move in creating one of his designs and architectural masterpieces was considered carefully, everything had to be perfection, and not a single detail was too insignificant to him.

The style of Arne Jacobsen was of Modernist architecture; his inspiration came from travelling especially a trip he made to Germany during his studies. When he graduated from the Royal Academy in Copenhagen, he received a gold medal of honour – one of many distinctions that Arne Jacobsen would earn throughout his lifetime, however this was what he treasured the most, whilst it drove him forward in his indefatigable quest for excellence.

In this project his remarkable ability to create functionality and simple classics is displayed, as he designed every single pieces of the hotel. Whether it was the building, the furniture, the doorknobs, or even the cutlery. Sadly most have since been replaced and refurbished only room 606 is kept in its original design, as Arne Jacobsen envisioned it.

For the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, he designed multiple pieces of furniture, which also are his most known works and designs. Example the iconic and timeless classics “The Egg”, “The Swan” and “The Swan Sofa” but already in 1952 he had his breakthrough, in furniture designs, when he designed “The Ant Chair” for Danish healthcare company, Novo Nordisk. This concept chair later became Arne Jacobsen’s inspiration for his “7-series” chair designs, which is a further development of the “Ant design”. The “7-series” has become the most sold chair of Arne Jacobsen to this date and continues to sell after 60 years!
